ARCS Summer Webinar Series: Self-Care and Self-Advocacy for Museum Professionals
Wednesday, July 13, 2022–Thursday, July 14, 2022
Part 1: Put On Your Oxygen Mask First: Prioritizing Self-Care for Arts and Museum Professionals
Speaker: Dorothée King
This webinar with Dorothée King is for everyone who works and leads in a museum or arts environment and will focus on the well-being of staff in the arts/museum field. This session will include short exercises designed to identify stressors, develop skills in self-care, setting limits/boundaries, and making everyday decisions that will contribute to greater fulfillment, and possibly result in less burn-out or bore-out, at the workplace. King will show how individuals, when daring to step out of “giving paths,” not only develop personally but will also bring their open-mindedness to their teams and workplace.
In this session, three aspects will be discussed in detail, illustrated with examples, and offered with self-coaching questions:
Let’s not shy away from “tall poppy syndrome.”
Let’s celebrate JOMO (Joy of Missing Out) to make more time for our own wellbeing.
Let’s focus on sustainable workloads and supportive networks.
