Your questions to finally nail THE must-have of 2021: Your purpose.
Nobody wants a house, a car, a yacht anymore. In 2021 the thing to have is purpose. “Why am I here?” aka “What is my purpose, my flow, my possible abundance in life?” might have out dated “What is my IP address” as the most often googled question.
I must admit, I am looking, too. I answered all purpose-questions I found online. There is a lot of repetition, and a lot of blah. Only occasionally I find a question that makes sense to me, and that really brings me further on my path to purpose. To speed up your search I want to share the gems:
What are you proud of with all your heart?
Be super honest here. It might not be your diplomas, job titles, or possessions. It might be your friendships, your style, your personal growth etc.
Write down at least three things that make you feel like a superhero.
What are your favorite memories?
Same here, maybe it is not your graduation party, maybe not even your wedding. What are your special moments? When did you feel free, loved and most alive? What did you enjoy doing most? Which places, people, incidents made you truly happy?
Writing assignment: What are your most favorite memories. And how could you change your current life to feel more of these vibes?
How would you like to be remembered?
Do you want to be remembered as the one with the best spreadsheet skills? Or rather as the one, who makes everybody laugh and feel welcomed? Answer this question not as a people-pleaser, but with a healthy dose of narcissism.
Write down all your strengths YOU like the most. Exclude the skills which are convenient for others.
What was your greatest learning in life?
What has been your most challenging time so far? Which injuries were really difficult to heal? These could be exactly the experiences that bring you furthest, and have radically shaped your personality.
Write down your learnings. Maybe they are your biggest potentials.
What are you most afraid of?
Sometimes the things, situations, people we fear or detest the most may trigger shadows of your life you do not want to look at. Instead of running away, let’s face them. Is it about time to integrate elements in your life you used to face with envy, stinginess, self-denial? Accepting and learning from your shadows may make youmore self-confident and more authentic. (See Kast, 2011)
Write down at least three things you are scared of, and how you could use your fears to grow.
Whom do you admire the most and why?
Write down > I admire FIRST NAME, LAST NAME, because she/he/they is/are X, Y, Z. < Now delete FIRST NAME, LAST NAME and write down your own FIRST NAME, LAST NAME. Here you go, please use this sentence as your new personal mantra.
Which three items would you save from your burning house?
Fun question. It supports figuring out what you truly value and what material things you could actually let go of. Your goal is to live a more minimalistic and therefore focused life. Write down your three most valuable possessions and what they stand for.
Which three items and/or people would you take to a desert island?
Fun question number two. This time put the focus on the things you want to bring into your life. Ask yourself what values and dreams you want to actually live in your life.
What do you need every day to be happy?
This is one of my favorite exercises. Write down your most perfect day. Where do you get up? How do you feel? What do you have for breakfast? What do you wear? Whom do you meet? What are your activities? What do you do?
Go through the whole day. Write and write and write - all the details. Then take a marker and highlight everything you are no longer willing to live without.
Enjoy life. Thank you for reading.
